I feel that All Star games are overrated. I was just watching the NFL Pro Bowl and there is no defense being played, its all about Offense. If you are going to have something to play for, play for the winning conference being the Home team in the Super Bowl regardless of the seed.
Basketball is the same way, there is no defense, just offense. Play for something like Home Court advantage in the NBA Finals.
Baseball has done great with their All Star Game having the winning League getting the Home Field Advantage in the World Series.

Could it be the start of a great year for Tiger
Well, if finishing 2 shots back in the Abi Tournament is any indication, I have a feeling its going to be a great year for Tiger Woods. The man is due for success in tournaments. He finished tied for 4th in The Masters in the last two years, last year he flirted with the lead in the final round, along with eight other golfers. I would like to see the greatest Golfer of our generation do well again.

On this day in 2006... Xavier gets by a fiesty Dayton team
On this day in 2006, Xavier hosted Dayton in a Atantic 10 showdown at the Cintas Center. Both teams were having average seasons. Xavier was lead by juniors Justin Doleman, Justin Cage and Senior Dedrick Finn. Dayton was lead by Junior Monty Scott, Sophomores Brian Roberts and Norman Plummer.
Dayton was down two with 28 seconds left. Roberts drove down the middle of the lane and missed a runner that would have tied the game. Xavier would go on to beat the Flyers 60-55.
Xavier has beaten the Flyers the last 26 times the two teams have squared off over the last 31 years they have played in the Queen City. If the last two years are any indication ( both four point Xavier Victories), Dayton could end the draught in the Queen City. I remember sitting at Bdubbs in Sidney last year watching the game at Cincinnati and Chris Johnson hit a 3 with less then 3 minutes to go to give UD a 2 point lead. I then texted my friends that night and said, "c'mon one time". However it was not in the cards. Paul Williams missed a 3 from the right corner wih 7 seconds left and Kenny Frease blocked Matt Kavanaugh's put back to preserve Xaviers win. One of these years, UD is going to end the draught, I can sense it.

Dayton and Xavier: Not just Rivals, but two First Class programs
I was at the Dayton Xavier game and I have the sense that these two proud programs respect one another. Xavier missed a shot with 35 seconds left in regulation and Dayton did not take another shot, they held the ball outside the top of the key and as time expired, guys like Mark Lyons, Tu Holloway, Brad Redford and Kenny Frease patted the Dayton players on the back, shook their hands and congratulated the Flyers on an outstanding win. I had the notion that these two programs respect one another.
Two years ago, in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 tournament, Xavier had a 2 point lead late and Rob Lowery was trying to call for time, until Tu Holloway hit the ball out of his hands and Lowery got "fiesty" and hit Holloway back and it resulted in a Technical Foul.
One of my favorite moments of this rivalry occurred prior to the 2007 game at UD. Prior to tip off, Xavier's Justin Cage walked to the end of the Dayton bench and shook the hand of Dayton Senior Forward Monty Scott, who was out for the year with a torn ACL. When I saw Cage do that, I got a little choked up because here's a guy who could not participate in the game and one of the players from your arch rival comes over to your bench and shakes your hand and I thought that was a awesome gesture on Cage's part.

Dayton Flyers; what a fun exciting team to watch
I've been a "die-hard" UD fan for about 8 years know and I will tell you, I don't think I have seen a more exciting team then this years. The 2009 and 2010 teams were fun, but I got to give this years squad a bit of an edge. They are fun to watch. Dillard, Kavanaugh, Parker, are a joy to watch. I am excited for what this team will do come March.
Ray Lewis- One Classy Man
I just saw Shannon Sharpe's interview with future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis on TV moments ago and I got to say this is a classy man. Plays every game and play with 110%, plays with passion, heart and gives a 110% every single season. Lewis is 36, but plays like he's 23. I admire that from him.

It's Xavier Week: GO DAYTON FLYERS
It's Xavier week for my favorite College Basketball team. Xavier was supposed to be the team to beat in the A 10 this year and could very well be right there in the end, just like the Flyers were in 2010, but we all know that did not happen. I think the Flyers will come out on top and Matt Kavanaugh will have a good game, Kevin Dillard will have a good game. The place is going to be electric, just like 2005 when Marques Bennett had his 15 minutes of fame and scored the biggest 5 points of his Flyer Career. I think it will be another outstanding game between two outstanding Rivals. GO FLYERS.

Six years ago today
The Pittsburgh Steelers invaded Indianapolis and the RCA Dome on January 15, 2006. The Colts were coming in as the #1 seed in the AFC and the Steelers were coming off a 31-17 victory over the Bengals.
The Steelers jumped out to an early lead. Late in the 4th Quarter, the Colts had the ball deep in there own territory. Peyton Manning got sacked on a 4th down setting the stage for two memorable moments. On 1st and Goal from the 2, the Steelers gave the ball to Jerome Bettis, who was hit hard at the one yard line and caughed up the football. Indy's Nick Harper grabbed the ball out of the air and looked like he was going all the way, but Ben Roethlisberger would save the Steelers season and Bettis' Career. Roethlisberger would make a shoe string tackle at the Colts 45 yard line. The Colts moved the ball into Steelers territory and Mike Vanderjadt would miss from 38 yards out that would have tied the game.

10 years ago tonight... A thriller at Anna High School
On this night in 2002, Anna hosted Lehman in Boys Basketball. Lehman was led by seniors Mitch Geise, Tom Hartings, Pete Henne, Jim Dembski and Junior Justin Seger. The Cavaliers jumped out to a significant lead in the 2nd quarter, but that would be erased.
In the 3rd Quarter, Anna Senior Jason Banks caught fire. He drilled 3 pointer after 3 pointer. No one could stop him. Banks would make 11 triples on the night. Trailing by 3 late, Lehman Senior Pete Henne drilled a 3 from the right wing to tie the game and force overtime. Banks would continue his amazing night in Overtime and with the game tied late, Anna would win on a put back lay-up 94-92. Banks would finish with 44 points.

On this day in 2006... Carson Palmer's career turns upside down
On this day in 2006, The Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers in the WildCard round of the NFL Playoffs. It was an electric atmosphere at Paul Brown Stadium. The Bengals fan were geared up for their first postseason game since the 1990 season and Cincinnati Pro Sports First Playoff Game since Game 2 of the 1995 NLCS.
On the Bengals 2nd Offensive Play from Scrimmage the Bengals season would turn upside down. Carson Palmer tore his Left ACL and the Steelers would go on to a 31-17 victory in route to winning Super Bowl XL

Would love to see the NBA played Outdoors
I love how the NHL plays a game outdoors on New Years. I think it would be super to see the NBA do something like that in Warmer Weather Markets: Los Angeles, Phoenix, Orlando, Miami, Dallas, Houston. I think it would be pretty neat to see the NBA play a Basketball game outdoors.

Bengals are headed to the Playoffs. Great day to be a Bengals Fan
Who would have thought before the season began that the Cincinnati Bengals would have won 9 games. I did not think they would have won 5 games all year. Especially with Carson Palmer, Chad Ocho Cinco gone. Head Coach Marvin Lewis made this team believe. They beat Cleveland in the first game of the season and gave Denver all they can handle in week 2. I thought they were going to have a "dismal" year. Not so fast...
The Bengals trailed the Bills in the 4th quarter by a Touchdown and Andy Dalton took over. Dalton led the Bengals to a 20-17 comeback win. That would set the tone for a Magical Season in the Queen City. Andy Dalton is a good QB. I have really been pleased and proud of how well he has done this year.
Proud to be a Bengals Fan. WHO-DEY
