On this day in Bengal History: November 30, 1997

On this day in Bengals history in 1997, The Bengals traveled to Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. It was Boomer Esaison's 2nd start of the 1997 season. The previous week, he led the Bengals to a 31-26 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.  It turned out to be a fun game for the fans. Boomer's counterpart in that game, former Ohio State and St. Henry High School Graduate Bobby Hoying. The Eagles won 44-42, Hoying finished with 6 touchdowns and Esaison finished with 5.

On this date in Flyer Basketball History

Dayton has beaten 3 BCS schools on this date in recent history. 1999, 2005 and 2008

1999: The Undefeated Flyers traveled to US Bank Arena to take on the Kentucky Wildcats (my favorite basketball team at the time). The Cats lead by 11 in the 2nd Half, but Dayton rallied back thanks to the clutch shooting of Tony Stanley and his 23 points as the Flyers upset the Wildcats 68-66. It was during my senior year in High School and other than Graduation, it was my classes favorite moment because they got to give me a hard time about it the remainder of our senior year

2005: The Flyers traveled to Fifth Third Arena to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. just 48 hours removed from the Double Overtime defeat at Creighton. The Flyers jumped out and stunned the Bearcats behind the play of Brian Roberts, Monty Scott and James Cripe. The Flyers defeated the Bearcats 66-58

2008: The Flyers played in the Finals of the Chicago Invitation Challenge and they were facing the Marquette Golden Eagles. Behind the play of Chris Wright, Rob Lowery and Chris Johnson, the Flyers stunned Marquette 85-71 to win the Chicago Invitation Challenge.

Five years ago last night...

Five years ago last night, My Dad and I traveled to Columbus to see the Buckeyes take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. North Carolina was loaded with talent, Wayne Ellington, Tyler Hansbourgh, Ty Lawson, Danny Green, Marcus Gineyard. Ohio State was led by David Leighty. Jon Deibler, Evan Turner. The Tar Heels defeated the Buckeyes by eleven.

Also on that night, My Dad introduced me to former Ohio State and NFL QB Bobby Hoying. Two nights earlier in 2007, The Steelers hosted to the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. The game went into the 4th Quarter scoreless. Early in the 4th Quarter ESPN'S Mike Tirico said: "The last NFL game to go into the 4th Quarter scoreless was in 1998, A game between the Cardinals and Eagles. The Quarterbacks in that game, Jake Plummer and Bob Hoying". I asked Mr. Hoying about that game moments later and he said "I enjoyed every second of it". I remember him saying that with a smile on his face and that gave me the impression that he was and is a super cool guy. Having the opportunity to meet a former NFL QB was a awesome experience. I'll always remember that night in Columbus.

On this day in Bengals History

On this day in 1997, The Bengals traveled to Indianapolis to take on the winless Colts. The Bengals got a huge lift that day. In the 3rd Quarter, Jeff Blake got hurt and Boomer Esaison came in to help lead the Bengals to a 28-13 Victory over the Colts. Esaison threw for 2 scores. After the game, Bengals Coach Bruce Coslet put his foot down to any speculation to a QB controversy in the post game speech saying: "There is no Quarterback controversy, Jeff Blake is our starting Quarterback.

I think the NFL should do some reconfiguration on divisions

Ok, I think the NFL should switch the AFC North, East and South Division's around and the NFC East and South Division's around:

AFC North should be:
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Indianapolis
Cincinnati

AFC South Should be:
Miami
Jacksonville
Houston
Tenneesee

AFC East should be:
New York
New England
Buffalo
Baltimore

NFC East Should be:
New York
Washington
Philadelphia
Carolina

NFC South Should be
New Orleans
Atlanta
Dallas
Tampa

In large part because the Colts have to travel south for there division opponents, Miami has to travel North for there division opponents, Baltimore is the furthest destination for the AFC North teams to travel, Dallas has to travel to the East to play there division opponents and I think the NFL should consider this an idea.
