It was Boomer Esaison's 2nd start of the 1997 season. The previous week, he led the Bengals to a 31-26 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.  It turned out to be a fun game for the fans. Boomer's counterpart in that game, former Ohio State and St. Henry High School Graduate Bobby Hoying. The Eagles won 44-42, Hoying finished with 6 touchdowns and Esaison finished with 5.
