Raymond Felton
Ty Lawson
Wayne Ellington
Tyler Hansbourogh
Sean May
Just think how good UNC would have been in 2006, if Sean May and Tyler Hansbourgh played on the same team. All five of these guys won a National Championship at North Carolina . I think that Ty Lawson was a better guard then Felton, but both were fun to watch. I was hoping to see Hansbourgh and May on the same team in 2005-06, but that did not happen. Hansbourgh was a beast in two NCAA tournament games at UD in 2006.
Paul Davis
Jason Richardson
Drew Nietzel
Raymar Morgan
Kalin Lucas
There is no better coach in the month of March, then Tom Izzo. He led them to final fours in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2010. Drew Nietzel gets my vote over Charlie Bell due to the fact he played with a swagger and swiftness that you don’t see a left-handed point guard play with. Raymar Morgan gets my vote over Marcus Taylor, because Morgan and Lucas had two outstanding seasons together in 2009 and 2010 and Marcus Taylor only stayed at MSU for two years.
Duke
Shane Battier
JJ Redick
Kyle Singler
Jay Williams
Nolan Smith
Honorable Mention: Jon Scheyer, Carlos Boozer, Sheldon Willams, Gerald Henderson, Mike Dunleavy
Shane Battier and Jay (Jason) Williams were apart of one of the best Duke Basketball teams in the last 15 years. The duo led the Blue Devils to Coach K's third National Championship in nine years in 2001. JJ Redick, the best basketball player in the history of the Atlantic Coast Conference gets my nod or Scheyer and Dunleavy. Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith are back for more this year with Duke.
Patrick Patterson
Chuck Hayes
Teyshaun Prince
Keith Bogans
John Wall
Honorable Mention; Marquis Estill, Cliff Hawkins and Rajon Rondo
I choose John Wall over Rajon Rondo and Cliff Hawkins mainly because Wall was a much better athlete. Wall could shoot the three better than Rondo and Hawkins, he led the Cats to an undefeated season at Rupp in Coach Calipari’s first season. Cliff Hawkins was the point guard on a outstanding 2003 team that featured Bogans and Hayes, but I am going with Wall, because I never saw a better one and done point guard. I choose Patterson over Camara and Randolph Morris because Patterson can go outside and inside, he could play the 5 position and play the 4 spot as well. I went with Chuck Hayes over Marquis Estill, DeMarcus Cousins because Hayes was a super athlete at UK , he did the little things during his four years at UK to help the Cats win.
Greg Oden
Ron Lewis
Evan Turner
Mike Conley
Honorable Mention; Terrance Dials, Jon Diebler, Jamar Butler, David Leighty, Dequan Cook
Conley and Oden only played one year for the Buckeyes, however they get my vote because for the all Ohio State team of the decade because of the hype they brought to Columbus . The excitement they brought to Buckeye Basketball something that was not seen the capital city in the Buckeye State . I choose Evan turner over Jamar Butler because he was so flashy, made every one around him better.
Sean Finn
Keith Waleskowski
Chris Wright
Tony Stanley
Brian Roberts
Honorable Mention; Kurt Huelsman, Brooks Hall, Ramod Marshall, Marcus Johnson and London Warren, Chris Johnson
Sean Finn gets my vote over Kurt Huelsman in large part because Finn accomplished things at Dayton that Huelsman did not; Atlantic 10 tournament Championship, Atlantic 10 West Championship, EA Sports Maui Invitational Championship, played in the postseason all four years and also played along side Waleskowski during his 4 year Flyer Career, not to mention they had Nate Green to play along side with during their first three years at Dayton. Huelsman played with Charles Little his first three years and Devin Searcy his last three years. Chris Wright gets my vote over Brooks Hall in large part because Wright performed better in bigger games than Hall did. He had 27 against West Virginia in the Flyers first NCAA victory since 1990 in 2009, was the Chicago Tournament Challenge MOP and helped the Flyers to a NIT Championship as a junior. Hall Struggled in two NCAA Tournament games, scoring a combined 12 points against Tulsa and Purdue. I picked Tony Stanley over Marcus Johnson and Ramod Marshall, because he was a big time player, He guided Dayton to a third place finish in Maui in 2000, beat UCONN and Maryland in a three day span. Guided the Flyers to a NIT Quarterfinal Birth in 2001 and a NCAA Birth in 2000. Brian Roberts was a No-brainer at Point Guard. One of the many exciting players at UD in the Brian Gregory era, and not to mention his first recruit. Roberts led Dayton to an upset win against Pittsburgh in 2007, dropping 31 on the Panthers, a game winning three pointer against Miami in 2007, after trailing by as many as 19, two upset wins against Rick Pitino-led Louisville, dropping 20 and 28 points respectfully in those two contests. Not to menton, UD’s all time leader in three pointers made.
Lehman Catholic Boys
Justin Seger
Kevin Sargeant
Doug Westerheide
Brent Schlater
Zach Schmitz
Honorable Mention: Ryan Shaffer, Tony Riess, Mitch Rank, Jim Dembski, Adam Freytag, Kyle Corbin,
Justin Seger gets my vote at center, because for three years on the varsity squad he was our anchor in the middle. He would average 19 points and 12 rebounds a game. The latter four, were apart of two of the best teams Lehman Basketball ever had. Kevin, Doug and Brent brought excitement to our program, they guided us to 2 district championship games in three years, including a 14 game winning streak in 2007. Zach Schmitz, was a point guard on another outstanding Lehman team, one that should have gone further than it did. He was apart of a Lehman team that won more games in a season than any Lehman team ever.
David West
Derrick Brown
Josh Duncan
Lionel Chalmers
Drew Lavender
Honorable Mention: Justin Doleman, Justin Cage, Stanley Burrell, Romain Soto, BJ Raymond
David West; no brainer. Derrick Brown was a south-paw with outstanding range. He can go outside and he can also go inside as well. I picked Josh Duncan over Justin Dolleman in large part because Duncan was athletic and had long arms, tremendous shot blocking ability, can shoot the ball from long range as well. I picked Lionel Chalmers over Stanley Burrell because Chalmers was a sharp-shooter, had big performances in the NCAA as a senior during that magical ride to the elite eight in 2004. I picked Drew Lavender over Romain Soto, because I felt that Lavender was a better point guard. Lavender made Duncan, Burrell and Brown better in his two years at Xavier. Not to mention Lavender had a outstanding coach, Sean Miller to follow his lead.
