Sunday night, UNLV played North Carolina in the Vegas Classic. UNLV won. Out of the last twenty five Final Four Most Outstanding Players, two of them did not get drafted by the NBA and they both played for these schools.
Anderson Hunt; UNLV 1990 Final Four MOP. Led the Rebels to a Blowout victory over Duke in Denver and as a Junior led the Rebels back to the Final Four and scored 29 points in the Rebels 79-77 defeat to the eventual National Champion Duke
Donald Williams; North Carolina 1993 Final Four MOP. Led North Carolina who had a awesome starting five: Eric Montross, Brian Reese, George Lynch, Derrick Phelps and Williams, to the National Championship. No one knew who Donald Williams was until the Final Four, 50 points in 2 games, 50% on three. Williams helped led the Tar Heels back to the Final Four in 1995, losing to defending National Champion Arkansas, in a Final Four Matchup that was the last match-up of defending National Champions and Final Four MOP's in the Final Four

On this Date in Dayton Basketball History
Dayton has beaten some big names on this date in recent years.
In 1999, the undefeated Flyers traveled to Cincinnati to take on the #12 Ranked Kentucky Wildcats at US Bank Arena. The Flyers shocked the state of Ohio that night beating the Wildcats 68-66, thanks to 23 points from Tony Stanley. This occured during my senior year at Lehman Catholic High School and it was my Classes Favorite Moment, because they got to give me a hard time about it for the remainder of the year.
In 2005, the Flyers made another trip to the Queen City, this time to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats at the Shoemaker Center. The Flyers stunned the Bearcats 73-65 thanks to the play of Monty Scott (23 points) Brian Roberts (25 Points) and James Cripe (12 points)
On this night in 2008, the Flyers played the Marquette Golden Eagles in the Final of the Chicago Challenge and upended the Golden Eagles 95-84 behind a career high 21 from Rob Lowery, 13 from Chris Wright and 19 from Chris Johnson

On this day in 2005; A thriller at Paul Brown Stadium
The Bengals were coming off their bye week in 2005. They were playing host to Peyton Manning and the undefeated Indianapolis Colts. It was also the first game in Paul Brown Stadium History that CBS lead team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms called.
The Bengals did not disappoint. The Colts outlasted the Bengals 45-37. Chad Johnson backed up his guarantee by having a fine performance that included a 65 yard Touchdown from Carson Palmer.
Being a die-hard Bengals fan for my entire life, I have never seen the Bengals play so well in a game they lost. Having it be against someone else, they probably would have won.
The Bengals ended the season winning the AFC North and the Colts ended up with the #1 Seed in the AFC and winning the AFC South. Both teams were bounced in the Playoffs by the Pittsburgh Steelers

On this day in 2005; A thriller in the Big House
It was a thriller in the Big House as Ohio State came into Ann Arbor and squared off against their hated Rivals. The Wolverines led 21-12 in the 4th Quarter.
Troy Smith connected with Santonio Holmes for a 20 yard Touchdown to cut the deficit to 21-19. Stage was set for a great finish. The Buckeyes were driving down the field and faced a 3rd and 5 in Michigan territory. Troy Smith connected with Wide Receiver Anthony Gonzalez to set up Antonio Pittman's 3 yard Touchdown with 35 seconds left.
Michigan tryed to rally, but Tyler Ecker was tackled in-bounds at the Ohio State 45 with 5 seconds left and time ran out as the Buckeyes danced on the Block M logo at Mid-field.
Ohio State would go on to play Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl and Michigan would play Nebraska in the Alamo Bowl to finish their seasons.

Congrats to Coach K
Congratulations to Coach Mike Krzyzewski for setting the all time wins record in Men's College Basketball. Coach K is a first class man, who cares about his team, school and loyalty.
It was great to see a lot of former Duke players in attendance on TV. It was fitting to achieve this record setting goal at the Mecca of Basketball; Madison Square Garden

At this time in 2003 and 2005
Former Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Chad Ocho Cinco; formerly called Johnson is known for making two guarantees
In 2003, The Bengals were hosting the Kansas City Chiefs and Johnson guaranteed "We will win next Sunday against Kansas City, that is a guarantee"
In 2005, as the Bengals were coming off their bye week, they were about to host the Indianapolis Colts who were undefeated at the time, Johnson guaranteed "I will guarantee you I will not be stopped on Sunday"

Basketball Looks good Outdoors and under the lights
I think after Last Night's amazing night in San Diego, I think the NBA and College Basketball should give a lot of heavy thought into playing more Games Outside. Especially in California, Arizona, Florida etc. Basketball looks good outdoors and under the lights.

On this day in 1991, A Dark Moment in NBA History
On this day in 1991, LA Lakers Guard Magic Johnson, one of the League's Greatest Players in its history, shocked the sports world with the announcement that he had tested positive for the HIV Virus.
Johnson was selected for the NBA All Star Game in Orlando and dazzled fans with a MVP performance. He helped the Dream Team win the Gold in Barcelona and in 2002 was inducted in the Naismith Hall of Fame by a Unianimous Vote and was presented by his good friend Larry Bird.

The Bengals have snapped draughts in 4 straight weeks
The Bengals are having a sensational season. They have ended draughts that have lasted, 22, 14, 16 and 17 years ( the last time on the west coast, was 2003).
They Beat Buffalo four weeks ago for the first time since the 1988 AFC Championship Game
They beat Jacksonville in Jacksonville for the first time since their Inaugural Season, thanks to the heroics of Jeff Blake and Carl Pickens
They Beat Indianapolis for the first time since 1997, a Game that Legendary Bengals QB Boomer Esiason threw for 2 Second Half Touchdowns in and a 28-13 Victory
This past week, they beat Seattle out in Washington for the first time since the 1994 season which was their first Victory of that very season thanks to Jeff Blake's 78 yard Strike to Darnay Scott to set up Doug Pelfrey's Game Winning Field Goal in a Overtime 20-17 Victory. Pelfrey kicked six Field Goals that day, which was a record at the time, only to be snapped by Shane Graham in 2007.
